What is it about your MBA program that students love the most?

Tight-knit community, Career Services, Practicums, Atlanta, Innovation, Faculty/Staff responsiveness

Tell us about one new course that has recently been added to your curriculum in the last year.  How do you see this influencing the current cohort?

The Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results (TI:GER) Program is a popular initiative at Georgia Tech that pairs MBA students with a PhD student from the Colleges of Engineering, Computing and Sciences to commercialize PhD research at Georgia Tech. Last year, we extended the program with a new class that focuses on commercializing cutting edge technologies developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (a sponsored research organization that develops technologies for commercial and government applications.) We are further extending the program so MBA students can work with startup companies in the Georgia Tech incubator, as well as with the large patent portfolio held by Georgia Tech. This opportunity will allow Scheller MBA students to gain hands-on experience in technology innovation and commercialization with technologies that are at various stages of development, from early stage PhD research to existing startups and patented technologies. The TI:GER program and the recent extensions leverage the unique Georgia Tech innovation ecosystem.

If you could invite a fictional character to lecture in one of your courses, who would it be and what course would he/she teach?  Why?

At Georgia Tech, some of our best faculty members teach our core classes. The quintessential example of this is Accounting with world-class instructor and accounting expert Prof. Charles ("Chuck") Mulford. A guest lecturer we would like to have drop in on this class, for a fun conversation about accounting with Chuck, would be Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation (portrayed by Adam Scott). Wyatt is an exceptional accountant, with a great sense of humor (a quality shared by many of our students). After class, since he loves games – which we host regularly like the Geography and Spelling Bees and Trivia Nights—we’d invite Ben to stay for the fun.
