What is it about your MBA program that students love the most?

Strong focus on sustainability and an active alumni network.

Tell us about one new course that has recently been added to your curriculum in the last year.  How do you see this influencing the current cohort?

Quantitative Methods for Finance: This new course is an important part of the new Masters of Science in Finance program at the Lundquist College of Business. Finance is a highly quantitative field, so it is imperative that students have a firm command of the mathematical and statistical tools that are used every day in the financial industry. In particular, asset managers need to understand the measurement of investment returns. They should understand the nature of risk and the statistical tools we use to model and estimate this risk. They should understand the uses and abuses of statistical tests computed on observed data. They should understand the linear regression models that are used every day in applied research, and are the basis of various asset pricing theories. Lacking a solid understanding of these topics can (and does) lead to important mistakes in the practice. Additionally, this course will use real financial data. Seeing and using this data in as many courses as possible will give the students valuable, applicable experience.

If you could invite a fictional character to lecture in one of your courses, who would it be and what course would he/she teach?  Why?

Fictional Character: Indiana Jones, PhD

Class Title: Recognizing Business Opportunities

Both scholarly and daring, Indiana Jones is the perfect example of being adventurous but also taking calculated risks. Be like Doctor Jones; research the market and target audience before chasing the Holy Grail.
