What is it about your MBA program that students love the most?

Intimate, hands-on learning community nestled within a vibrant, growing city

Tell us about one new course that has recently been added to your curriculum in the last year.  How do you see this influencing the current cohort?

“2043” is a new course taught by Professor Kevin Coyne, a retired McKinsey partner.  The course is an advanced strategy course and encourages students to consider what the world might look like in 25 years by mapping out key trends and reflecting on how they might intersect and what their ultimate impact will be. The course has fostered some fascinating discussions among classmates about what moves quickly and what takes more time, where future opportunities and tensions will be, and how we need to prepare to lead in a highly dynamic world.

If you could invite a fictional character to lecture in one of your courses, who would it be and what course would he/she teach?  Why?

  • I’d love to transpose Sherlock Holmes to the digital age and see how his skillset could be applied to our world, which has become considerably more complex. Our core Strategy class teaches methodologies for gathering the right type of information/clues and synthesizing them into a larger story. I’d love to see how Sherlock would approach that challenge. Plus, I imagine it would be hard to B.S. in his class.

  • The narrator in Invisible Man would be an incredible instructor in our Leading with Emotional Intelligence class. In that class we’re challenged to become incredibly introspective and think about how we’re seen and defined by others before we articulate the type of leader we hope to become. Learning to step back and consider others’ perspectives before we take action is incredibly difficult to do, but as leaders we must ensure that all voices are heard.

Emory Goizueta Bio

I can’t imagine a better place to get my MBA than Goizueta. The intimacy of the learning environment creates life-long friendships and alumni who are deeply connected to the school and willing to support current students well beyond a 15-minute courtesy chat. Goizueta emphasizes real-world application, and being located in the heart of a large, growing, and diverse regional hub allows students to gain access to senior leaders of major companies and engage in meaningful projects with them. Our Career Management Center has a fantastic track record of helping students explore different options and then get placed with attractive opportunities.
